No Going Back (Joe Hunter) by Matt Hamilton

Joe Hunter is off on a somewhat different direction. He is now officialy working for his old buddy Rink, a PI. He takes on the jobs that are a bit messier than a regular PI would take on.
After a stop in the UK he travels to the US desert to find a rich man's missing daughter. He ends up confronting a family that makes the guys from The Hills Have Eyes look like pushovers.
I always like Matt's books, but this one was even better than usual. I really liked the desert setting, the new direction of the series and the way the book was structured. Viewpoints from the victims, the bad guys and Joe were nicely mixed together for maximum thrilling effect.
If you're reading Lee Child and haven't given Matt Hilton a try... This is the one to start out with.

If you've been reading my blog you know I'm a fan of Harboiled Collective member Matt Hilton's Joe Hunter series. That means I'm excited about the sixth novel in the series that has links to the first Hunter novel and the villain that was featured there, the sinister Harvestman: Dead Man's Harvest.

Blood and Ashes (Joe Hunter) by Matt Hilton

Joe Hunter, Matt Hilton's vigilante is back again.
This time he takes on a bunch of neo-nazi's in a plot that is more relevant than ever after the dreadful events in Sweden.
As always the action is fast and furious but there's some elements that make this latest Hunter-adventure one of the best.
There are more plot twists, making sure you get a few surprises (Jeffrey) Deaver-style. Also, the subplot of how Arrowsake, the organisation that birthed Hunter, has gotten corrupted is very interesting.
We see Hunter struggle with his morals, an element that also fuels my Noah Milano stories.

Cut and Run (Joe Hunter) by Matt Hilton

You don't read Matt Hilton's books for the intricate mysteries or deep characterization. You do read them for the fast action. This new installment in the Joe Hunter series won't let you down. Traveling from Miami to Columbia we get an interesting glimpse into Hunter's past as it looks like an old enemy is back for revenge. As someone seems to be impersonating Hunter he needs to find out who is killing people using his name and is aided by some old friends.
If you love Andy McNabb, action movies or the Executioner novels this one's for you.

Slash and Burn (Joe Hunter) by Matt Hilton

The first two novels in this series may have been actionpacked, but this one takes the cake. It's like a Steven Seagal movie in bookform. Joe Hunter is back, helping out the sister of a dead friend from his time with Special Forces. For her he takes on psychotic twins and a knife-wielding businessman in a tale of non-stop gunfire, car chases and fistfights.
If you think Lee Child is too boring, this is your book!
I could do with just a bit less action next time around and a bit more suspense. Judging by the preview of the next one in this series I will get my wish, making this still one of my favorite series.
